Soul Vomit 2013

Soul Vomit is an annual anthology published by Broken Publications. Submissions are now open for the 2013 anthology, Soul Vomit: Domestic Violence Aftermath. Submit your work here.

This anthology should help to shed light on this plight that so many suffer behind closed doors. We're looking for work that speaks emotionally and connects the helpless victim to their survivor counterpart.

Mainstream society needs to know what abuse looks like from the inside as well as on the outside if we're all going to work to stop it from happening and protect victims once it has happened.
Everyone has a survivor in them - sometimes, it's hard to see at first, and often domestic violence victims have an extremely difficult time leaving their abusers. This is why they need encouragement, support, and a way to gather up their strength to leave... and stay gone.

As a domestic violence survivor, it is a mission for me personally to get the message out there that the most charismatic and beautiful people can often be abusive, whether that abuse is emotional, mental, physical, or sexual. The abuse is real, no matter how stupid you feel or how wrong you're told you are on a daily basis.

Please note that the nature of this anthology is sensitive, and there will be graphic works in these books. I'm not here to sugarcoat the situation for anyone; abuse is scary, violent, and despicable.

THE DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSIONS IS OCTOBER 1ST OF EACH YEAR.
