What does your soul have to say?
So, the whole point of writing is to express yourself, right? Express innermost thoughts, secrets, observations, anger.... whatever. That's what I always thought. I also thought that I had to be at a specific seat in a specific diner and smoke my cigarettes while I wrote in my journal and had my coffee and the planets had to align and the moon had to be full and blah, blah, blah. Right.
I've been referring to my massive amounts of written drivel in journals as soul vomit for years. It's evolved from journaling to writing short stories, submitting to literary magazines for publication, and putting together my own publications and various others as the owner of Broken Publications. I've come quite a way since being hunched over a journal at Denny's, scribbling away.

Check out Weebly. | The Literary Anthology of 2012If you're like me, you have an appreciation for and a love of interesting, thought-provoking, emotional writing. If not then that's okay, too. I like all sorts of things. For Soul Vomit, though, we're looking for work that fits the theme of that year's issue, reaches out and grabs people by the soul, and communicates a message.
For 2012, the theme is Domestic Violence. Have an idea for an anthology title? there will be a contest in July/August of 2012 for suggestions. If you have work you'd like to submit, please see our submission manager for details. THE DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSIONS IS OCTOBER 1ST, 2012. Above is a donation widget for anyone who would like to contribute to the cause of publishing this book. Because Broken Publications is a small, indie publisher, we currently do not have the funding to pay anyone for services OR provide contributors' copies to the writers.
If we end up with more money than necessary for those two things, it will go to a domestic violence advocacy program in the Pierce County area of WA State. |
